Teaching Philosophy
I teach from the mindset that playing music should be just that-playing. Learning music can be empowering, exciting, and fun when approached from a lens of exploring things that the student authentically enjoys. Through holistic teaching, I aim to give every student the tools to confidently thrive in any musical setting. These tools can include theory, aural skills, composition, performance confidence, and improvisation in addition to the commonly taught skill of music reading.

Rates
-
50-minute private piano lesson: $50
-
25-minute private piano lesson: $25
-
Additional and optional activities and any fees associated with them will be discussed with students and families

Logistics
-
Lessons will be taught in the student’s home, in efforts to make music accessible for everyone, for the convenience of busy families, and so that students can receive instruction and exercises catered to their specific settings.
-
Travel fees are included in lesson rates, and in homes where more than one student is taught consecutively, additional lessons will each be $5 less.
-
A parent or responsible guardian must be present in the home for the entirety of the lesson for any minor students. The lesson must take place in an area with easy access and visibility to ensure safety and comfort of the student, as well as legal protection for the teacher. Parents/responsible guardians are welcome to sit in on lessons, and they are at all times responsible for the safety and well-being of the student.
-
I am happy to pick up materials for the student - the exact price of the item will be added to an itemized invoice.
-
Invoices will be given the last week of each month and will be due the first week of the following month, paying in advance for that month. I can accept cash, checks, CashApp, and Venmo.
-
If lessons need to be missed due to travel/conflicting events, the charge for that lesson can be left off the invoice if I’m notified by week three of the prior month.
-
When necessary, lessons may be canceled, and a make-up lesson may be scheduled if I am given at least a 24-hour notice. No refunds for missed lessons will be provided. Last-minute cancellations will still result in a charge for that lesson. Please contact me about extenuating circumstances, as exceptions may be made at my discretion. Please contact me as soon as possible if a lesson must be canceled.
-
A one-week grace period will be applied for late payments, after which a $10 late fee per week per household will be added. Lessons may be terminated as a result of non-payment. All decisions are subject to my discretion.
